Description: Goodsell Observatory is now mostly devoted to the astronomy
department, though various professor's offices may wind up there if the

Description: Sticks & Stones (aka "the earth sculpture") was one of my
favorite places to sit my frosh year. Unfortunately, for most of my
sophomore and junior years, it was demolished and/or behind fences because
Hulings was being built. As you can see, though, they fixed it by the
end of my senior year.

Description: Old Music Hall houses the music department, and is where most
applied music lessons are held.

Description: Nourse is a relatively small residence hall, considered by some
to be the nicest of the residence halls - the top floor has been a quiet
floor some years. Nourse has, in its basement, a small theater used for
many student productions.

Description: Myers, with its twin Musser, is built something like a block
both inside and out. On the other hand, you can write on the walls with
dry-erase markers.

Description: Arena Theater is connected with the nearby concert hall by
underground hallways. The Theater is used for larger productions than
Norse Little Theater, for instance the spring musical.

Description: Evans can be the noisiest of the residence halls, and has
probably the most unusual internal architecture of any building on
campus. Evans also contains an eating hall, and the Cave, Carleton's
on-campus bar/club.

Description: Cowling Gymnasium is used (not surprisingly) by the Physical
Education department. In addition to a basketball floor and pool,

Description: The Libe is the campus library; it was renamed after Larry Gould,
a former Carleton President, in 1997. The Libe has a few classrooms as well
as several study rooms.

both for classroom space and for offices. Also, the bottom floor is

loudest; first Burton in particular is often a through-way for people going
to and from the Sevy/Sayles complex. Burton also houses the largest of the

Description: Severance ("Sevy") is used for upperclass housing on the second
floor and above; the bottom floor contains administrative offices and
